Randwick Waverley Community Transport where Proud Sponsors of the Women’s Maroubra Thunders team for Ella 7s on the weekend.
Ella 7s One of the most unique and meaningful rugby union tournaments in the country. The Ella Sevens established in 2007, is an annual national Indigenous Rugby Sevens tournament held in Coffs Harbour and Dubbo attracting interest from all over Australia. Regarded as the largest Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Rugby Union 7s tournament in the country and run by the Lloyd McDermott Rugby Development Team, the event is set to bring roughly 400 players to Apex Oval Dubbo from March 5-7.
Named after the illustrious Ella brothers, the Ella Sevens represents the culmination of many years of hard work teaching sporting skills and spreading the love of rugby. The tournament provides a showcase for Indigenous rugby and includes many players and coaches who have participated in our regional coaching clinics. In 2008 all but one of the teams playing in the competition had members who had previously participated in LMRDT programmes.
The Maroubra Thunders made it to Semi Finals but unfortunately didn’t come away with the win. They did however come plate runners up. We done Ladies.
